Restoring Rumney Marsh: Flood Protection, Tides, and the Future of the Marsh

  • Rumney Marsh Conservancy PO Box 177 Revere, MA 02151 (map)

Join Rumney Marsh Conservancy for a virtual presentation by Ed Reiner, retired EPA wetland scientist, on the restoration of tidally restricted salt marshes at Rumney Marsh.

This presentation will look at how restoration planning can be balanced with flood protection for surrounding neighborhoods, including the role of tides, restricted water flow, marsh health, and the long-term future of the Rumney Marsh system.

Rumney Marsh is the largest remaining salt marsh in the metro Boston area and a designated Area of Critical Environmental Concern. This webinar is intended for residents, local officials, conservation partners, and anyone interested in understanding how restoration opportunities can be approached carefully, practically, and responsibly.
