About Rumney Marsh Conservancy

Rumney Marsh Conservancy is a local, volunteer-led nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting, restoring, and helping people better understand Rumney Marsh and the surrounding coastal ecosystem.

Rumney Marsh is one of the largest remaining salt marsh systems in Massachusetts and is designated as an Area of Critical Environmental Concern. Located across Revere, Saugus, Lynn, and surrounding communities, the marsh provides important wildlife habitat, helps buffer nearby neighborhoods from coastal flooding, supports water quality, and preserves a rare natural landscape in one of the most densely developed areas of the state.

Our work focuses on education, advocacy, restoration awareness, public access, and long-term stewardship. Through guided walks, public programs, research, community outreach, and engagement with public agencies, we work to elevate the importance of Rumney Marsh and encourage decisions that support its long-term health.

We believe Rumney Marsh is more than open space. It is living infrastructure, wildlife habitat, climate protection, and a public resource that deserves care, investment, and attention.

Rumney Marsh Conservancy is powered by volunteers, community support, and a shared belief that this landscape is worth protecting for future generations.
