Morning Hike Along the Marsh

  • Rumney Marsh 114 Bristow Street Saugus, Massachusetts, 01906 (map)

Start your day with a moderately paced hike through Rumney Marsh Reservation, led by MassDCR.

Our first morning walk produced plenty of memorable discoveries, including more than a dozen bird species, a family of deer, a horseshoe crab, and blue wild indigo with seed pods that rattle in the wind.

For Part 2, we’ll begin at the Bristow Street entrance. Starting here gives us roughly a half-mile head start and should allow the group to reach the end of the trail, where the Pines River crosses the abandoned embankment.

Along the way, we’ll take in the first sights and sounds of the day, listen for bird calls, and look for interesting plants, trees, and wildlife.

Please bring water and wear comfortable walking shoes. Insect repellent is strongly recommended due to mosquitoes and ticks. Please leave pets at home.

NOTE: This walk begins at the Bristow Street entrance.

Meeting location: Bristow Street entrance to Rumney Marsh Reservation
Meet near the trail entrance at the end of Bristow Street in Saugus.

Co-sponsored by Rumney Marsh Conservancy.
